Urgent Call for Some Last-Minute Help for the Hurricane Sprints
We still have some last-minute holes to plug for next weekend’s meet at the
Session Volunteers
We still have many volunteer positions unfilled for the meet, especially on Sunday afternoon for the clean-up crew.
After such a long weekend, where a few of us will be the first ones there and the last ones to leave, we understand how much everyone wants to get home. But we need to make sure we leave the facility in better shape than when we arrive.
Please understand that all families are being asked to clean up both during each session and especially after each session. The attention we give this wonderful facility is the reason why we are allowed to come back each year. UConn only allows outside teams to host four or five meets a year, so they are very particular about who they invite to return.
The signups for session volunteer jobs have been extended through Sunday, June 8. So, please help us out by clicking here: http://www.supermeets.com/Index.cfm?action=event_dtl&event_id=2709&StaffTrackerClient=73.
Questions? Contact Meet Director Sean Doyle at sedoyle@hanover.com.
Concessions
Sign-ups for providing items for the concession stand have been extended through Saturday, June 7. If you have not signed up or could possibly help out more, please click here: http://www.supermeets.com/Index.cfm?action=event_dtl&event_id=2708&StaffTrackerClient=73.
If you wish to drop off a $10 concessions donation at the ANA YMCA, please leave a check at the front desk in an envelope labeled “Swim Team Concessions.”
Questions? Contact Diane Moore at dcmoore37@comcast.net or Beth D’Entremont at bethd602002@yahoo.com.
Team Dinner
Tomorrow (June 5) is the last day to sign up for the team dinner on Saturday night, June 14. It’s a great opportunity to hang out with the team. If you are not staying on campus, it is still very convenient to get over to the Nathan Hale on your way to where you are staying. To sign up: http://www.supermeets.com/Index.cfm?action=event_dtl&event_id=2702&StaffTrackerClient=73.
If you have signed up but have not paid for your dinner(s), please leave a check at the ANA YMCA front desk in an envelope labeled “Swim Team Dinner.”
Questions? Contact Emma Frey at emma_frey@hotmail.com.
Raffle Items
ANA Hurricane parent Abbas Torabi is continuing to solicit items for the Hurricane Sprint Raffles. The goal is to raffle baskets of items during each session of the meet, so we need items to fill several baskets.
If you can help out with a donation, please contact Abbas at Bluephoton@verizon.net.
Equipment Needs
We’re still looking for two coolers and two heavy-duty extension cords to help keep the concession stand running smoothly. So if you can help us out by loaning any of these items for the meet, please sign up here by Sunday, June 8: http://www.supermeets.com/Index.cfm?action=event_dtl&event_id=2707&StaffTrackerClient=73.
Lost and Found
If you want to post something in this section of the Hurricane Watch, please include in your e-mail to Karen Bailey (karen.bailey@tufts.edu) a description of the lost item(s), the owner’s name and contact e-mail and phone number and the date and place it was lost.
When your item has been found, please e-mail Karen so she can remove it from the “Lost and Found” list.
Keep in Touch through the Team Website
We encourage you to use the team web site as a resource for our YMCA and US swimming programs. You’ll find the ANA Hurricanes at http://www.anahurricanes.com. The ANA site lists practice schedules, meets and directions, meet results and also includes links to the National YMCA Swimming and Diving,
With a couple of clicks of the mouse, families have a resource available to them 24/7.
The site’s webmaster is John Silva. If you have questions, comments or input on the site, you can e-mail John at jasilva397@aim.com.
Changed Your E-mail Address?
If you’ve changed your e-mail address or want to add another e-mail address to the distribution list for the team newsletter, please e-mail that info to karen.bailey@tufts.edu
Need to Contact a Coach?
Your first point of contact about your swimmer SHOULD ALWAYS BE his or her practice group coach.
You’ll find the coaching staff and the groups they coach at http://www.anahurricanes.com/coaches.asp.
Parent Advisory Board
Families with general questions about the program, events, swim meets, their obligations to the program and other non-coaching issues are encouraged to contact a member of the Parent Board:
