In This Issue: 3 open jobs for UConn meet planning committee … some pressing deadlines for banquet photos and spring/summer registration … spring practice group assignments

3 Open Positions on the UConn Meet Planning Committee
Sean Doyle, the meet director for the 2008 Hurricane Sprints, which takes place June 13-15 at the University of Connecticut, says he still needs volunteers to fill 3 open positions on the meet Planning Committee: a Meet Co-Director, a Raffles Chairperson and a T-Shirt Coordinator.

Even if you’ve never worked on planning a meet before, don’t be shy about volunteering for one of these jobs. We have plenty of experts who can help guide you along the way.

Every family of every swimmer participating in the meet will be required to work the meet, for which you will earn points towards a discount on your summer YMCA team fees. By joining the Planning Committee, you can start building up your points before the first swimmer dives off the blocks in June.

So please go to the sign-up system on the team website now and join the planning team. You can get to the sign-up system here: http://www.supermeets.com/Index.cfm?StaffTrackerClient=73. If you click on the specific job, you’ll find a brief description of what’s required.

Questions? Contact Sean Doyle at sedoyle@hanover.com or at 978-771-7344.

Some Pressing Deadlines to Keep in Mind
TODAY (Friday, April 18) is the last day for swimmers to submit their photos from this season for inclusion in the slide show that will be shown at the annual team banquet on Sunday, May 4. Please submit your photos to Parent Board President Ed Hunter by emailing them to ehunter@protk.com or mailing prints to him at 10 Hammond Way, Andover, MA 01810.

FRIDAY, APRIL 25 is the deadline for swimmers to register for the Spring/Summer seasons. Practices for the new season begin the week of April 28. Registration materials (complete one set for each swimmer) were sent out with this newsletter on Monday. Or you can find them at www.anahurricanes.com/SummerRegistrationForm2008.pdf.

A Word about Spring/Summer Practice Group Assignments
Swimmers will be notified next week about their practice group assignments for the new season, which begins the week of April 28.

One change that will occur this spring is that the Junior group has been split into two groups—Junior 1 and Junior 2. The move was made to provide a higher-quality practice experience for this burgeoning group of swimmers by having fewer swimmers in a lane.

Coach Erin says that having more space will be great for every swimmer, and even though the two Junior groups won’t always practice at the same time, and some friends have been placed in different groups, both Junior groups will reunite every Friday night for practice at the ANA YMCA.

Coach Erin has already notified the Junior swimmers about their practice group assignments. If you have any questions, please email her at erincammann@hotmail.com.
