Allyson Ty Is Top Dog In Springfield

Allyson Ty took top honors in the 12 and under age group by scoring 96 points in her individual events this weekend at the New England Long Course Invitational at Springfield College.  Allyson took first place in all 6 of her events and qualified for the Eastern USA Zone meet in the 200 IM, 50 Breast and 100 Back.  Her time in the 100 Backstroke was a new Meet Record which was most recently held by Jaylan Fraser-Mines and Rachel Moore.

Other Hurricanes made additional qualifying times for YMCA Nationals (July) and the Eastern Zone Championships (August).

Katie Discipio and Ben Morris each qualified for YMCA Nationals in four events.  Katie in the 200 IM (YNats and Zones); 200 Breast (YNats); 100 Fly (YNats and Zones) and the 100 Breast (YNats and Zones); Ben in the 200 IM 1st place (YNats and Zones); 100 Back (YNats); 100 Fly (YNats) and 200 Fly (YNats).

Stan Camin took 4th overall in the Men’s 200 Breaststroke.  This is his first YMCA National qualifying time which was two full seconds under the qualifying mark.

David Hunter also grabbed a 4th place overall in the Men’s 200 Backstroke in order to qualify for YMCA Nationals.  This is David’s first qualifying time for this year’s meet.

Michaela Jones – 1st place 10 and under 200 Freestyle

Darren Ty – 100 Free (Zones); 50 Free (Zones) and a 1st place finish in the 400 Free

Conor McAuliffe – 400 Free (YNats and Zones); 200 Fly (YNats and Zones); 200 Free (Zones)

Emma Cammann – 50 Free (YNats and Zones); 200 Free (YNats and Zones); 100 Back (YNats and Zones)

Julia Torabi – 100 Free (YNats and Zones); 100 Back (YNats and Zones)

Allyson Ty, Jordan Clements and Michaela Jones took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 10 and under girls 100 Free and led the 10 and under girls team to win their division!

The Hurricanes took 3rd place overall and were supported by many courageous swims, close calls and best times.  Thank you to all the parents who drove swimmers back and forth and volunteered to time the long, hot sessions.  The coaches and swimmers greatly appreciate it.
